You can use only GL5 in front and rear differentials.
You can use GL4 or GL5 in the gearbox and in the transfer case because Lada Niva gearbox contains brass synchromesh, unlike many modern gearboxes with bronze one.
To avoid confusion usually only GL5 is used.

Thank you very much katzyn for your reply.So to conclude gl5 can be used fearless in all differentials and gearbox of our beloved niva [:D] I mention that as was searching yesterday the web about this matter i came across this statement from VAZ's Technical Department regarding GL5 in Niva gearboxes http://forum.difflock.com/viewto…4f7aa0cde4f88c4ab8c9ce68165c27beSo we have an official positive answer about the use of gl5 [:)]

Five years ago I used oils Mobilube HD80W90 (GL5). Now - Mobilube 1 SHC 75W90 (GL4/5).

Thank you very much dear Aperunfortunately i can't understand your name in russian [:?] and i may not write it correctly.I would like to explain me the difference between oils with specifications only gl4, only gl5, and only gl4/5.The oils that you use are gl4 or gl5 because you wrote gl4/5?

GL-5 for Hypoid Transmission (NIVA`s differentials must use only GL-5, becouse it`s Hypoid type have)
GL-4 usual transmission oil`s, it can use for gearbox and transfer case, but Lada recomendation use everythere GL-5 (Hypoid) 75W-90.

I use: in differentials Shell Spirax AX SAE 80W-90 API GL-5
in gearbox Aral SAE 75W-90 API GL-5
in transfer case Mobilube HD SAE 80W-90 API-GL-5

You can use more viscid transmission oils like 80W-90, 80W-140, ect.

Рулевой - пофиг что лить, но канечна лучше тоже синтетику, хотя в Греции это не принципиально с их температурами.
